Calling Features

Caller ID lets you see the calling party’s phone number before answering a call. A special display device located on or next to your phone is required to allow you to view the calling number.

With Caller ID Name and Number service, both a caller’s name and number will appear on the Caller ID device.

What Caller ID does for you:

  • Allows you to determine who is calling before answering or deciding to answer the phone.
  • Enhances security and helps eliminate harassing calls.
  • Your Caller ID display device can store the phone numbers of people who called, even while you were out. You can easily review these numbers and return their calls.

Caller ID Blocking:

This feature is currently available on your line. A subscriber is able to place a call without their directory number being delivered and displayed to the called party.

This is especially important when a subscriber wishes to remain anonymous.

To Activate Caller ID Blocking:

  1. Dial *67, then listen for the confirmation tone and a steady dial tone.
  2. Dial the telephone number as usual and your directory number will not be delivered or displayed to the called party for that call only.
  • The next call you place will deliver your directory number to the called party unless you dial *67 again.

Note: If you have requested Calling Number Delivery Line Blocking from your phone company, you can remove the line blocking on a one-call basis by dialing *82 prior to placing the call. On that one call, your number will display to a Caller ID customer.

The telecommunications relay service is a valuable communications tool which allows hearing individuals and businesses to use their telephones to call and communicate with individuals who are deaf, deaf/blind, hard of hearing, or have difficulty speaking through their telephones. Relay service also provides full telephone accessibility to individuals who are deaf, deaf/blind, hard of hearing, or have difficulty speaking so that they also have the opportunity to make personal and business calls like any other telephone user. Specially trained operators confidentially complete relay calls and stay on the line to relay conversations electronically over a text telephone (TTY) or verbally between the callers.
